Bhutanghat

Bhutanghat is a sightseeing and picnic spot for locals and tourists close to the tri-junction of Bengal – Bhutan and Assam boarders. Bhutanghat is on the banks of river Raidak as it flows down from Bhutan into Dooars plains. The beautiful landscape attracts tourists hear.

Before you plan to visit this place, you must take update from our executive about the current condition of road and security condition of the area. The road condition occasionally has been less than perfect. Also as the place is close to Assam boarder, insurgency problems in Assam occasionally may have security implications for Bhutanghat.

Getting There

Alipurduar town is well connected with the rest of the country. From Alipurduar, Bhutanghat is about 45 kms. The road passes through Phaskhowa and Hatipota. There are alternative routes to reach hear and it is suggested that you only travel with an expert guide or driver.

Weather

Except for a few days in May and June when heat soars high, temperature here mostly remains below 30 C. You should be carrying light woollens during winter. Monsoon months witness heavy to very heavy rainfall that lasts between July and September.

Accommodation

There is a 1903 forest bungalow at Bhutanghat. Booking for the bungalow is difficult to get and amenities are not great. Most tourists visit Bhutanghat only during the day and return to their base in Alipurduar, Jayanti, Rajabhatkhawa or other places in the evening. We would also recommend only a day trip for our guests.
