Bomdila is one of the most important towns on the way to Tawang from Assam. At an altitude of 2530 mtrs above the mean sea level, the town is popular among tourists as a overnight destination while travelling to Tawang. It is the headquarters of the West-Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, and is 109 kms from Bhalukpong (5 hours roughly).

Getting There
Tezpur is the nearest rail station and airport. Guwahati is the mail rail station and airport for the entire region with flights and trains connecting all major cities in India. From Guwahati and Tezpur you have to travel by smaller vehicles. There are bus service available but they are not very frequent.

Bomdila, is known for its scenic beauty as it provides the tourist with a sweeping view of the mighty Himalayan territory and its snow-covered crests. The weather is soothing throughout the year.
Bomdila is also known for its beautiful apple orchards. There are several Buddhist Monasteries or Gompas here. The most popular Monastery is in the Market area. There is also a Monastery far above the town from where the entire town is visible. The main market is a must visit for tourists with its collection of local handicrafts and the famous Bhut Jolakia Chilli which is considered the hottest in the world. Bomdila hosts craft centres and emporiums accomplished with traditional masks, Woolen carpets and many others.
