The word Tinchuley stands for three chullas (chulla means oven). It is a relatively new tourist destination of the region. Tinchuley is located close to the famous tourist destination of Darjeeling.

Even a few years back Tinchuley was a remote hamlet. The inhabitants of this quite settlement took an initiative for establishing their locality as a model village. With the help of organizations such as the WWF, the village soon developed eco-tourism resorts. The villagers also showed keen interest in modern farming and with the help of WWF they developed floriculture, vermiculture, organic projects.

Tinchuley Sunrise Point: This place is known for the exotic view of sunrise. From this point one can see the Teesta valley, Kalimpong, Eastern and western Sikkim, Latpanchar and the snow capped peaks of the Himalayas.
Tinchuley Monastery: The monastery is highly revered by the locals.

Getting There

Darjeeling - 32 kilometers.
Siliguri - 75 kilometers from
Kalimpong - 43 Kmlometers
Gangtok - 88 kilometers

NJP is the nearest railhead and Bagdogra is the nearest rail station.

The Teesta valley route is one of the more common options of reaching here from NJP / Bagdogra or Siliguri. You would be travelling through Sevok towards Sikkim till you reach Rambi Bazar. Here a diversion towards your left will take you to Takdah through Rongli Ranliot Tea garden. From Takdah drive a few kilometres to your right to reach Tinchuley. Tinchuley is about 70 kms from Siliguri through this route.

Instead of taking the diversion at Rambi Bazar, you may drive on to reach Teesta Bazar and then take the left road that travels to Tinchuley via Bara and Chota Mangwa, Travel distance through this route is about 75 kms. Keep in mind that this route is quite steep and is not suitable unless the driver is well versed with the region. People travelling from Kalimpong or Sikkim would find this route shortest though.

If you are travelling from Darjeeling, you should be following the Peshok road which connects Ghoom with Teesta Bazar. At 6th Mile Check post, take a right turn and drive through the forests to reach Takdah and then on to Tinchuley. Through this route Tinchuley is about 32 kms from Darjeeling.
