Short Description
This 10 day trek will take you to some of the most beautiful
forests of Sikkim. The trek is especially beautiful in April-May
when Rhododendrons and Magnolias are in full bloom. The entire
trek route gives a close view of Mt. Kunchenjunga and the other
snow capped mountains of Himalayas.
 Day
1: Bagdogra
- Yuksom (145km, 5900ft)
On your arrival at Bagdogra Airport (Alternatively NJP railstation),
you will be received by naturebeyond members and assisted in
boarding your vehicle. Drive to Yuksom through beautiful valleys,
villages, waterfalls and rice fields. Yuksom, a tranquil village
encircled with forested hill provides beautiful vistas of mini
lakes against the Himalayan backdrop. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 2: Yuksom - Bakhim (12 kms/ 9000 ft)
Trek starts in the morning from Yuksom, today we will trek to
Bakhim. The landscape changes as you leave behind Yuksom and
follow the mule track forests. Cross the gushing Rathong stream
over the wooden bridges, a glacier fed stream, which originates
from sacred Doodh (Milk Lake), Reach Bakhim through serpentine
trail in the afternoon. Overnight at Trekkers’ Hut/Tent
 Day
3: Bakhim - Dzongri – (8 Kms / 12155 ft)
Trek to Dzongri. The trail moves upwards through steep route
towards a open valley of Tshoka Village. The imposing Kunchenjunga
will cover the horizon as you move on. Further up to Phittang,
the trail leads up an exquisite forest of Rhododendron offering
an excellent view of the Sikkim mountains. Overnight at Dzongri
(Tent/Trekkers’ Hut)
Day 4: Dzongri - Thangsing (7 kms/12467 ft)
A four hour trek through meadows and valleys leads to a beautiful
valley situated at the base of Jupono Peak. Surrounded by massive
mountains on all sides and a stream pierces the forests presents
an enchanting scene. Overnight at Thansing.
Day 5: At leisure at Thangsing
Spend a whole day at leisure exploring the beautiful valley
and capturing some priceless pictures of the area. Overnight
at Thansing

6: Thangsing - Chaurithang (10 km / 14370 ft)
Today’s trek will take you to the Chaurithang falls at the base
of Rathong glacier. Apart from the breathtaking beauty the place
is also famous to the Mountaineers of all over the world as
this is used as base camp of the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute,
Darjeeling. Chaurithang offers splendid views of Frey, Kokthang,
Kabru, Rathong and Chandra peaks. Overnight at Chaurithang.
Day 7: Chaurithang - Zamlingang (10 km )
This trek passes through some of the most beautiful forested
areas of Sikkim, engulfed in the fragrance of Magnolias. Overnight
at Zamlingang.
Day 8: Zamlingang - Bakhim
The trail to Bakhim descends through a garden of flowers which
can be quite spectacular in spring when giant Magnolias and
more than ten type of Rhododendrons bloom along the trail. You
will also find a large variety of exotic birds, butterflies
and orchids. Overnight Bakhim
Day 9: Bakhim - Yuksom
A leisurely walk of about 4 hours brings you back to Yuksom
through a different trail. Rest the whole day in the pristine
nature or meet the hospitable Sikkimese villagers. Overnight
Yuksom.
Day 10: Yuksom – Onward Destination:
Today we help you to depart to your desired destination in Gangtok
or Darjeeling.
