Porter related issues
The porters in the region sometimes have to work under severe conditions for a poor pay. naturebeyond tries to maintain the best possible service standards for the porters accompanying our trek.
Our porters are not required to carry more
than 30 kg of load. They are briefed before the trek about altitude
sickness and
other forms of illness in the hills. They are also briefed about
environment related standards maintained by naturebeyond during
the trek.
If a porter falls ill during the trek his
pays are not curtailed. Although we do not have provision for
insurance of the porters, naturebeyond meets the treatment expense
of the ill porter from its own resources. The porters are given
equal medical assistance as any other member in case of illness.
No porter is left outside during the night. The porters are
given daily allowance including allowance to cover their food
expenses during the trek. Special allowance is also given for
trekking to higher altitude regions. naturebeyond does not employ
porters below the age of 16 for its treks. |
