Embark on a full day adventurous trip to Pakhui, Arunachal Pradesh, visiting the very famous Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary, the Pakke Tiger Reserve, just by the Pakke River. The Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary spreads over an area of 862km2 at an elevation of 100mtrs (330ft) to 2000mtrs (6600fts) above the mean sea level, with a subtropical climate, generally suggestible to visit during the cold weather  in the months of November to March and maintaining monsoon from June to September.

To Reach

Pakhui tiger Reserve is accessible through Seijosa in East, Bhalukpong in west and Pakke Kessang in north.
Arunachal Pradesh State Transport buses and many other private buses are easily available on a daily basis, from Tezpur, Assam, and the state capital Itanagar. Even shared taxis and hired taxis are available to reach Pakhui.
The nearest railhead and airport is in Tezpur, Assam, which is 50kms from Seijosa/Bhalukpong and Guwahati Railway station is 280kms.

Visiting Pakhui for a full day adventure is worth it as the Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary is all guarded by beautiful rivers and many other reserved forests around.

Pakhui Tiger Reserve

Home to three large cats- the snow Leopard, the Leopard and the Tiger, Pakhui Tiger reserve also gives space to the Asiatic jackal and the wild dog. With the wild kingdom, it also caters to the needs of many herbivorous species like the Elephants, Gaur, Samber, Hog Deer, Barking Deer, Yellow throated Martin, Malayan Giant, Rhesus Macaque, Assamese Macaque, Civet, Squirrel and even the presence of one long tailed Macaque has been reported by some researchers, with almost 296 species of birds, some of them includes pied falconet, white Cheek hill partridge, Jordon’s Baza, Green Pigeon and so on, and more than 1500 species of butterflies and many reptiles and insects that are typical of the area. The Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary is guarded by Pakke River in the East and Kameng River in the west.

Sessa Orchid Sanctuary

The Sessa Orchid Sanctuary is adjacent to the Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary and covers an area of about 100km2 ranging from an altitude of 900mtrs to 3250mtrs. The Sessa Orchid Sanctuary has more than 200 species of orchids with five varieties of endemic and new species. Some of the species that can be seen are the Dendorbium, Bulbophyllum, Coelogyne, Eria, Phaius, Liparis, so on and so forth.

Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary

An abode for over 454 bird species, 15 species of mammals, 165 species of butterflies and 65 herpetofauna, the Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary is a perfect place to site different birds, along with many other species like the endangered Capped Langur, the Bengal Tiger, Asian Elephant, Red Panda, Asiatic Black Beer, and the vulnerable Arunachal Macaque and Gaur. It stand at an altitude of 500mtrs to 3250mtrs.
