Roing is the district headquarters to the Lower Dibang Valley of the north-eastern state of India, Arunachal Pradesh. Roing presents a picturesque landscape of the Dibang valley, the snow-clad mountains and the ever flowing river Dibang. It maintains a great weather. It is pleasant during the summers and chilled during winters.

To Reach

Roing can be reached easily through the neighbouring state of Assam. One can reach here through Tinsukia about 105 kms away and travel via Dhola and Sadiya to reach Roing that takes about 5 hours. It is also accessible from the small town of Tezu that is just 100 kms away from Roing. Pawan Hans Helicopter services also connect Guwahati with Roing, although service are not very regular.
The nearest airports and railways stations are at Guwahati and Dibrugarh, Assam.

Roing is a perfect place for both nature and history lovers. The beauty of Roing encaptures one’s eyes and soul both and can hardly be missed out while visiting Arunachal.


It stands at an altitude of 8000feet amidst the lush green surroundings and snow-clad mountains. This place experiences snowfall during the winters thus beautifying it to grandeur.

Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary

It is ranged at 400mtrs to 3568mtrs above the mean-sea level covering an area of 281.5 sqkm. A dense green forest with variety of flora and fauna and good many beautiful lakes Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary is a must for all. One can witness a wide range of herbs, flowers, plants and shrubs and even animals like tiger, leopard, jackal, Himalayan black bear, Indian porcupine, wild dog and variety of snakes like the panther, cobra, etc.

Mehao Lake

It is 14kms from Roing in Mehao Wildlife sanctuary. The 4sqkm water body stands at an altitude of 3000ft with its beautiful wild ducks, surrounded by the green forest all around and throwing a splendid view. The lake has got boating facilities too for the entertainment of the visitors.

Sally Lake

It is 3kms from Roing and is also in Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary. Another beautiful lake surrounded by green all around.

Bhismaknagar Fort

It is 30kms from Roing and is said to belong to the 8th century, one of the oldest archaeological structure. The fort covers an area of 1869.52 sqkm with three halls, 2 extension rooms and six entrances. There are two main gates to the fort, one in the East and another on the West.


A picturesque town at an altitude of 5000ft is a perfect trekking spot for all adventure lovers. The place is also famous for its cave temple at Kupunli. The town gives stunning landscapes to the visitors.


It is 15kms from Roing and is said to belong to the 19th century. One must not miss the ferry ride here that connects Roing to Dambuk. Nijomaghat throws a beautiful scenario of the green mountainous ranges along the Dibang River.

Rukmini Nati

Also known as the Chimiri Fort, it is 12kms from Roing and illustrates the 14th century burnt brick architecture.

Iphi-Pani Ghat

10kms from Roing, this place gives an alluring view of Dibang River and the valley. One can try out fishing and angling here.

Nehru Van Udyan

It is just a kilometre from Roing. Eje-Breeze Tower here provides a kaleidoscopic view of the Deopani River. The junction of Rivers Eje and River Eme attracts people even more and it is a picnic spot for the natives.
